March Goal Update

Debt: So we did pay off some, but it was paid off this week (April), so we actually didn't pay any off in March.  I'll update it next month.

Books:   I read two books this month.  Both have some romance, but weren't to raunchy.   Swept Away I read in a day, the other took a week or so, but it was an audio book.

Food
Big Mac Sliders:  I'm not sure I've ever actually had a big mac, but these sliders were amazing!  I used this recipe and I ate at least half of them.  I will absolutely make them again.  I didn't have the dill relish it called for, but I had sweet relish and dill oil so I made it work.

Potato Skins. I made potato skins for the first time.  I ate them all, but they were a lot of work.  I don't think I baked the potatoes long enough, and then didn't crisp them enough.  I may or may not make them again.

Bible: Still right on track with getting through the Bible this year.   I struggled a lot because some of what I've been working through was so legalistic and rules and details and it was hard to focus on.

Sweets: This is probably going to be my hardest goal to work on.  I eat all the sweets all the time. I had given up chocolate for lent, but then ate lots of jelly beans and ice cream so...

Date:  I kept bugging Rob about a date, but it didn't happen this month because by the end of the month sickness ran through the house.  We did go out with my sister and her husband so we sort of had a date.  We still had fun, but it wasn't the solo time I wanted.  Hoping for something fun for our anniversary.

Swago: Spring Edition is here! (US & Canada)

The digital rewards site Swagbucks is offering big payouts during their "Swago: Spring Edition" promotion, which runs from now through Monday, March 12th at 9am PT! Swago is just like bingo, but in this case you're filling out squares as you earn points on their site for doing things you already do online. If you're thinking of trying Swagbucks, this is a great chance to learn all about how the site works and earn bonus points while doing it, meaning you can get more gift cards faster. Here are a few tips:

  • Each square on your Swago Board will contain an action item to complete. They can be anything from getting a search win, completing a survey, or just visiting one of our popular stores!

  • Once you complete the action item in a particular square the square will change color signifying the action item is complete.

  • You have until 12pm PT/3pm ET on Monday, March 12th to mark off as many squares as possible so use your time wisely.

  • Be mindful of the patterns and their corresponding bonuses located on the right of your Swago Board. The patterns will vary in difficulty and bonus value. Once you’ve achieved a pattern, the corresponding “Submit” button will light up. You can have multiple patterns available for submission, however, you can only submit ONE pattern so choose wisely.
  • Each activity you successfully complete on your Swago Board will give you anywhere from 1-20 spins on the Spin & Win Wheel. PLUS, when you submit your board for a bonus you'll get additional spins. The number of spins will depend on the pattern you complete. The wheel has all sorts of great prizes that you can win, and each spin is a winner!

The Spin & Win Wheel will be available all throughout Swago and you have until 11:59pm PT on Monday, March 12th to use all your spins.

Fill up your board and then submit your pattern to get even more points - if you can fill in the whole board, you get a 500 SB bonus, which is enough for a $5 gift card from the retailer of your choice.

Click here right now and click "Join" to get started! If you don't already have a Swagbucks account, you'll be able to quickly sign up; PLUS, if you earn 300 SB before the first of April, you'll get a bonus 300 SB!

Get $3 when you sign up for Swagbucks in March (US)

Want some extra boost for your budget this month?

If you haven't tried Swagbucks before, you can get a bonus $3 for signing up as my referral in March. Swagbucks is a rewards site where you earn points (called SB) for things you're probably doing online already, like searching, watching videos, discovering deals, and taking surveys. Then you take those points and exchange them for gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, or PayPal cash.

When you sign up through me, you can earn an additional $3 bonus! Here's how:

1. Sign up using this link

2. Earn 300 SB total before 4/1/18. You'll get a $3 (300 SB) bonus for it!

3. If you want even more bonuses, you'll get a $10 (1000 SB rebate) bonus for making your first shop purchase! That's in addition to the SB you earn for every dollar you spend.

That's it. It's super easy, and Swagbucks is for real. I use it myself, and I've earned some to help feed my wetbag addiction, and my cloth diaper addiction and lately hairbows for the girls!

February Goal Update

These are the books I read this month (all links are affiliate links)

Some of the new things I made were very simple, but I'd never made them before so I'm still counting it.
  • Toad in a hole which is basically a piece of bread with a hole in it and then you cook an egg in it.
  • Beef stroganoff and I used a stroganoff sauce mix so I'm not sure how much that counts.
  • Steak fajitas.  I used the leftover steak from the stroganoff for these.  I've made chicken fajitas before but never steak.  I actually make my own seasoning blend so that counts for something right?
  • Egg and Cheese Pancake.  I was trying to be creative with what was in the house and searched for savory pancake and found the recipe via pinterest.  It was a little dry but I used sour cream on top as recommended and thought it wasn't bad.  I'm not a big egg eater, but I'd probably make these again.

I donated a few more bags of stuff to the thrift store and gave away some baby stuff to a friend. I've got 5 totes to go through and try to sell or do something with.

We had our February date at a hockey game,  I was to cheap to buy the tickets online because of service fees so I took the chance that we would get okay seats there.  We ended up getting amazing seats on the lower level 4 rows back near the corner where the goal was.  I would have paid more for seats on the upper level near the top had I bought them ahead of time.  The home team won in overtime so it was a good game.  I haven't been to a hockey game since before we were married I think and so I forgot how long of a game it was-It was 3 hours!  Between tickets, parking, and food it was like $100 date.  My parents watched the girls overnight (Mallory's first overnight without a parent) so we got to enjoy it.

I'm 3 days ahead on my bible reading (as of today)

We still haven't paid off the Home Depot card, but that will be happening once we get tax money in.  And Rob is refinancing the house in order to lower monthly payments and then we will hopefully use that for some other credit card debt.

January Goal Update

A while back I posted about my 2018 goals.

Rob and I had one date this month.  We went to dinner.  I wasn't impressed with my food, but it was nice to be able have a conversation without tiny people

I read 3 books this month (affililate links below).  Forever My Girl was raunchy, and that's not really my speed, but those parts aside I liked it.  I loved The Bookshop on the Corner and finished that in a day.  These is my Words only took a few days as well, and there are 2 more books that continue the saga of the main character so I look forward to reading those.

I gave a box of baby clothes to a friend, and took 2 grocery bags to the thrift store.

I made bacon wrapped chicken for my new recipe. I only ate a few bites, but there were no leftovers so I take that as a good sign.   I also made sesame chicken, but I used a sauce pack for that so I don't know if that really counts.

I'm ahead on my reading plan for reading the bible in a year.

We haven't paid off a credit card yet, but maybe with tax money we will.

I haven't been great about cutting back on sweets.  I mean I've probably eaten less, but I've still eaten a lot if that makes sense.

Let's see how February goes!

Mallory's 2 year Update

My tiny peanut turned two last week!

At her checkup a few days after her birthday she was 23lbs (8%) and 31 inches (2%).  Shes in a mix of 12-18 month clothes currently.

Her favorite foods are corn, macaroni, chicken nuggets, popcorn, and bananas.

She loves to watch Blippi (her second birthday party theme) and Paw Patrol.

Coloring is a favorite activity.  It doesn't matter if it's with markers, chalk, a pen, or crayons.  She loves to scribble.  Also enjoys stickers.

We weaned a few weeks before her birthday.  I was sad, but ready.  She asked for milk for the first week and a half but has been pretty good since.

She is sleeping better.  Weaning seemed to be a turning point. She was in my bed every single night basically but since weaning it's only been a few times.  She will usually wake up and cry once or twice but it's brief and she puts herself back to sleep.

She's very expressive and talks in big sentences and phrases (or what I think is big for a 2 year old).  She also has great receptive skills and sometimes I think she listens better than Eleanor. haha.

She's still a mama's girl, but I'm not really complaining about that.

Still recovering from all of your holiday shopping? The online rewards site Swagbucks has a smart and fun way for you to earn and save when you spend.

Swagbucks is hosting another round of Shopping Swago! What is SWAGO you ask? It's
a bingo-inspired promotion run by Swagbucks, a website that rewards you with points (called SB) for completing everyday online activities. You can redeem those SB for free gift cards. If you've never used Swagbucks, participating in SWAGO is a great introduction to the site and an easy way to earn a good amount of points quickly.

Here’s what you need to know to get your 300 SB Bonus (and don’t worry, you don’t have to make a purchase to complete a pattern):
  • Go to the Swag page and make sure you hit “Join” otherwise you won’t get credit for completing the action items. Each square on your Swago Board will contain an action item to complete.
  • Once you complete the action item in a particular square the square will change color signifying the action item is complete.
  • You have a limited amount of time to mark off as many squares as possible so use your time wisely.
  • Be mindful of the patterns and their corresponding bonuses located on the right of your Swago Board. The patterns will vary in difficulty and bonus value - up to 300 SB - enough for your first $3 gift card.
  • Once you’ve achieved a pattern the corresponding “Submit” button will light up. You can have multiple patterns available for submission, however, you can only submit ONE pattern so choose wisely.
  • The game ends Friday, January 26th at 12pm PDT/3pm EDT. So make sure to hit “Submit” on the pattern you wish to submit. If you don’t hit “Submit” before the game ends you won’t receive your SB bonus.

Top Ten of 2017

In no paticular order here are some of my favorite moments of 2017

1) Mallorys birthday was a fun time celebrating my baby turning one.

2) Mallory seeing Lake Michigan and enjoying it.

3) Taking the girls to the beach in September and having it almost to ourselves

4) Every time Mallory wakes up from naps and gives Eleanor a big hug I just melt.

5) In February I went to Nashville to meet up with some of my mom friends from around the country.  I'd been chatting with these women for 4 years at that point so it was great to finally meet.

5) Our 6th anniversary.  We tried a new restaurant and I wanted to take a walk down by the river but it was so windy we kept getting belted with sand and dirt ruining that plan.

7) Great Wolf Lodge.  We ended up going twice and Eleanor loved it so much she still talks about it.

8) Eleanor starting school

9) In April I took the girls to a baseball game by myself.  I missed most of the few innings we made it through, but Eleanor got choosen to go out on the field and say 'play ball'.

10) This isn't a good moment necessarily but it stands out.  Around Halloween both girls got sick.  Eleanor had croup first, then Mallory got it and on Halloween she had temps of almost 104, and it lingered for nearly a week. It wasn't a fun time, and I didn't sleep much, but they recovered.
